"WE MAY NEVER KNOW"
Seattle
Test results awaited in zoo pony's death
Woodland Park Zoo officials still are waiting for test results to find out what killed a 16-year-old pony, Cherokee, a fixture at the children's pony rides at the zoo who died a week ago.
"We may never know," said Gigi Allianic, a zoo spokeswoman.
Cherokee and seven other ponies in the herd of 11 took ill two weeks ago, exhibiting similar symptoms of lethargy, decreased appetite and diarrhea. The other ponies have recuperated.
