diaper covers.

diaper covers

i really like using cloth diapers.
at first it was kind of annoying because we didn't get diaper covers right away and tried to use the plastic pants and diaper pins. that sucked. plus, little baby was so tiny, and still had his belly button stump, which the cloth diapers covered. it seemed easier to just use up the newborn disposable we already had.

then we bought some diaper covers, a few at a time. first we bought
litewraps and diaperaps and i mistakenly bought the small size instead of newborn size. they were both too big for him. then we picked up some small gdiapers from whole foods. these fit him well. i ordered some proraps classicclassic from the diaper service and those fit him really nicely.

he's starting to grow out of his newborn sized covers and soon i'll have to pick of a couple of small sized ones.
birth and beyond is opening a store in fremont soon. (YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!)

i've seen some patterns online for wool soakers that look fun to make. i'm kicking myself for purging all of our wool sweaters when i cleaned out the closets when i was pregnant and nesting. GAH. i KNEW i could have used those for something!!

we have a diaper service which is AWESOME. it would be too hard for us to do cloth in our building ( one shared washer and dryer for 10 apartments.) and i wouldn't want to wash them all the time. especially since corey is still doing most of the cooking/cleaning/laundry right now. so i doubt he would want to wash dirty dipes.

so yeah, if you're thinking of doing cloth go for it. it's about the same price as disposables (a diaper service is, anyway) the diaper covers are an investment, but you don't have to buy them all at once. and if you keep them in good condition you could probably re-sell them.
every leak that the baby has ever had was from wearing disposable diapers.

also: although they fit newborns really well, pampers swaddlers are SCENTED and it doesn't say that on the package. gross gross gross.
