things i really like right now

this post is about makeup. if you're a boy i might bore you. i doubt very many boys read this though.

blinc kiss me

blinckissmee

recently i switched from dior diorshow mascara to blinc kiss me mascara. the sales girl at sephora recommended it when i told her i wanted something natural looking. i had heard a few good things about it, but when i pulled out the brush it wasn't like what i was used to. the bristles were spriral-y and far apart and not like the diorshow brush which has lots of bristles close together. the formula also looked very "wet". that and the bristles combined made me think it was clump up my lashes. i bought it anyway since i knew i could return it if i didn't like it.
at the same time i also bought clinique naturally glossy mascara which i originally went there to get. i decided i would to do a comparison test with both of them.
the kiss me mascara is unlike any mascara i have ever used. it has to be used on CLEAN lashes and you can't reapply it through the day. i usually reapply mascara if i'm going to work later and it wasn't that big of a deal with diorshow since it layers well.
anyway, the first few times i used kiss me it was kind of spikey and weird. i wasn't sure if i liked it. i read reviews on makeupalley about application techniques. this mascara goes on best when you use short, quick strokes on your lashes. it's also good to use a light hand. this ensures that each lash gets coated, instead of too many lashes getting clumped together. i find that rubbing my finger over my lashes while they're still wet separates them a little more.
the best thing about this mascara is that it doesn't flake or rub off. i can sleep with it on and remove it in the shower the next morning and it doesn't give me 'raccoon eyes' if i don't use enough soap. that is the beauty of removing it, you don't need soap or eye makeup remover to take it off, just water and your fingers. it's just really simple and worth the money and that is why i like it. i have bought many drug store mascaras that are way cheaper, but have really bad results with them.
by the way, i ended up returning the clinque mascara. it was clumpier than i remember and i was more excited about the kiss me stuff anyway. i thought i might not use the clinique.

minted rose lip balm

mintedrose

this stuff is really nice. it's kind of like a cross between lip balm and lip gloss. it heals chapped lips and also gives a little color and shine. corey complains about the smell but whatever. i don't mind it too much. i think i almost like more then my perfumia gal lip gloss that i have. they are similar enough though, but perfumia gal is more of a gloss than a balm and it doesn't help chapped lips that much.

urban decay eyeshadow in YDK
ydk

i think this eye shadow looks darker in person and if you layer it. when i bought it i was looking for a brown color, but the lights in sephora are so weird it was hard to tell what this color really was. at first i thought it was a light brownish shimmer, but it looked different than the others i had swiped on my hand. it seemed to have more a plum color to it and i decided that it might look better on me than the brown color i was thinking of. i really like it, it's very pigmented and seems to look natural on my complexion. or something. i think i like it because it doesn't seem like something i would normally pick out ( i usually like neutral colors). it's nice and i recommend urban decay eye shadows.

everyday minerals

i started using this brand over the summer. i ordered the sample custom kit to begin with and was able to find colors that looked good on me. for some reason it seemed way easier than picking out makeup at the drugstore. the sample kit also lasted a really long time (a month and a half to 2 months maybe?) which surprised me. i think this is a good, affordable brand to try if you're thinking of trying mineral makeup out. try it!!! it really is nice!

saturday

here's what i look like now:

in other news: we did our civic duty today and voted at the caucus. it was weird. in a good way. at first i wasn't sure if we should go because i didn't know how long it would take and i was supposed to work later in the evening. but then i started to feel guilty about it so i said "let's go!!" and we went. our precinct had about 200 people in an 8-block square. it was strange seeing "familiar" faces from around the 'hood.
we voted for obama, as did most of the other people in our precinct and the one next to ours. we were there a long time standing around and i ended up getting really tired and exhausted and when we got home i called into work because of it.

on the way to the school some lady said "hey do you guys want to buy some tulips?" and we said no
and she said "hey are you guys gonna have a baby?!" and i said yes.
then while we were at the caucus we saw our neighbor and she said "hey i didn't know you were expecting!" and she looked at my tummy a lot, i think making sure that i was in fact pregs, and not just fat.

anyway, i guess this means it's obvious that i'm PG now.
