yesterday i didn't have to work so i drove up to snohomish to hang out with frontal. he is in town for only a few days. instead of the usual thrifting that we do we decided to go to the antiques stores in town.

there was a lot of cool stuff to be seen, but most of the stores closed at 5 so we couldn't see all of it.

i did buy some cloth napkins. i have been wanting to make some, and maybe i still will, but these were neat so i got them.

we also stopped at kmart to look for some dish towels but they were all crap. and we went to the goodwill in m-ville and i bought a lot of books for kids, including hatchet
which was one of my favorite books.

just like the beginning of every other month i can't believe it's MAY already. also, it's a month away from HAVING A BABY. what the hell? this is weird!
speaking of baby... we are almost all ready to go. last weekend we got a car seat. but it's not in the car yet. it's kind of a monster of a car seat and it requires that which ever seat it's behind be moved up to an almost uncomfortable position. we're going to try and put it in the middle and see if that works. if it doesn't...then i guess i will always be in the passenger seat and corey will always have to drive even if i pick him up. OH WELL.

i also got this sweet baby pouch sling on etsy. it's really awesome, it even has pockets on it. it is way cooler than the one at target that i sort of wanted. i can't wait to use it.

this weekend we got a lot of "hanging out" done, like walking part way to the u-district, putting a puzzle together (we are old), going on a walk down to fremont, and NAPS up the bung hole.

tomorrow (as in today)i'm going to pick up my bro-ham from the airport. AND... while we're there we will also pick up.........BRENTIE!!!! we have plans to eat at aqua verde
i'm really, REALLY excited because i don't even remember the last time we ate there. but it was probably when brent lived in seattle and brent hasn't lived in or around seattle in a long, long time.

it's really late and i should probably go to bed. i haven't stayed up this late since...um friday, but still, i usually go to bed at like 10.

i think i've found the perfect perfume.

yesterday we stopped at whole foods to pick up some dinner items and while i was browsing through the health'n'beauty area i noticed some really pretty boxes of soaps from Pacifica.
so i walked a little further and saw some perfumes, also in really pretty packaging.

i sprayed mediterranean fig on my wrists and it was so, so good. i showed it to corey for future reference, but i think i'd like to buy it for myself.

i kept sniffing my wrists last night and had forgotten the name of the perfume so i had to find out what it was.

they also come in solid perfume style which i kind of like because it's $9 but i don't know if they had that one at whole foods.

i love the packaging.

for a while i really liked fresh sake, and i still do, but it kind of gives me a headache so i don't really wear it that much. i know smells are a really personal thing and what smells good to someone might smell like ass to another, but the pacifica fig seems like a good non-offensive everyday smell.

it reminds me of some incense that i bought at the mall store "natural wonders" back in high school called "siesta under the fig trees" by French Terre d'Oc which apparently isn't very easy to find on the internet.

it also reminds me of these scented colored pencils (why do color pencils need to be scented? i don't know) that brent had. i'm guessing he had the milk fig smell. i wonder what he did with them.

these cookies are really easy. they have a short ingredients list and they turn out looking really pretty. plus they taste good.

i'm avoiding doing my homeworks right now by baking cookies instead.

i'm taking online classes this quarter because i figured it would be easier seeing as i'll probably be giving birth before the quarter is over. i also figured that the more credits i get get finished before little baby-doo was here would be best.

it's only been a few weeks but i can tell that i don't really like taking classes online. i really prefer being in the presence of smart teachers who have interesting things to say. school books are boring and not interesting. also, the website used to take these classes is lame and confusing.

all that said, i should probably quit farting around and start my homework/testing stuff which is due at 11:55 pm.

sunday night i made blueberry lemon bread which was yummsters and gone by last night. today i was going to make apple muffins but decided that since i still had some lemons and blueberries i should just make lemon blueberry muffins. i used the muffin recipe from how to cook everything, which turned out to be a really SIMPLE and FAST and EASY to do. the ingredient list is short and i had everything on hand which is nice. since i was going to need to go to the store to buy the stuff for the apple muffins.

last weekend we spent saturday cleaning the carpet. it is now so clean you could eat off it. i don't know why anyone (besides the cat) would want to do that though. on sunday me and mom-bones went to ikea. it's high time we eat our dinner at a proper dinner table and so that was something i wanted to get. i also wanted to get a chair for nursing the baby in. i really wanted to like the lillberg rocking chair because i like the way it looks but it's pretty much the worst rocking chair ever. it wasn't what i imagined it to be (too short and low to the ground) and so i ended up getting the poang chair with brown cushion thing. anyway, i am happy with it and we'll see how it works out. it has a much higher back and is very "bouncy" which i don't mind.

okay. it's time for lunch. i don't know what to eat since i really only want muffins and milk.

i can't really believe it's already april. it seems like the winter was over really quick, like in February, and all of these 'tweener months always get glommed into one. like marchaprilmay.

last night after our baby class i made choco chip cookies. last week after our baby class i made PB cookies. a few weeks before that i made oatmeal raisin cookies. so next week or the week after i need to make some cookie i've never made before. i'm waiting for the martha stewart cookie book at the liberry so maybe i'll wait until then to make something new.

in baby news: on sunday my mom brought over the bassinet that we're going to use for the bebe. it's really nice and not ugly or stupid and i'm glad we get to use something that has been "passed down" and not have to buy something right away. we are having a mattress made for it now because it's kind of hard to find stuff like that on the internet and when you do find it, it has to be custom made anyway. so i found a lady who makes mattress out of wool and cotton and she's going to make a sheet for it too.

each morning for the past week or more i've been making a smoothie for breakfast. it is the most delicious thing ever. EVER!!
here is a loose recipe:
-ground flax seeds
- frozen fruit "smoothie mix" (pineapple, strawberry, mango)
-blueberries
-vanilla almond milk
-blob of PB (this is a new addition...for added protein)
-'nilla yogurt
- reg soy milk left over from something that i can't remember

i really like it when it's runny and you don't need a spoon to eat it. this morning i ran out of the almond milk and soy milk and had to sub in some orange juice because there was also no regular milk. it was still really good and i wish i had some to drink right now.

the one i got was the last one in the small size and it is baby blue colored. it's so tiny and cute that i die when ever i look at it.

we went to m-ville for easter today and after brunch went to value-pillage to check out baby clothes. i found a lot of good stuff on the cheap.

the grahams are ok, but i remember them being a lot more crusted with cinnamon and sugar. these are just lightly dusted.

today i was really exhausted because the cat keeps waking me up early in the morning by pawing this piece of plastic. she wants me to wake up and feed her and since i always, always do what she says i got up and went to her food table. sometimes she already has food in her dish and just needs reassurance for some reason. she is weird.
i guess this is practice for a bebe or something.

i wish my school offered a linguistics class because i'd take it. i thought i saw a class once before but i don't see it listed now. maybe it's only offered sometimes.

(i was going to link to a picture on flickr of the kitty sleeping in it, but i couldn't find one picture even though i KNOW i have some...)

i really like the idea of using a tubtrug instead of getting a baby bathtub which will take up space (and look ugly) and will be eventually useless.
i really like the primrose color in the small size.

i'm super duper sick right now. well, maybe not that sick. i have a lot of crap coming out of my nose area and that crap is clear colored so i guess it could be worse.......
yesterday while we were getting some dinner fixin's at whole foods i got a neti pot. i've been wanting one of these since i saw my ceramics teacher from a few years ago demonstrate it in class.

the first time i used it my nose area/whole sinus area (???) was so stuffed that the saline solution wouldn't travel from one nostril to the next. i blew my nose a hundred times and it was still too clogged. today at school i blew my nose over and over again and stuff just kept filling in the empty spaces. after i got home i tried it again and it finally almost started to work correctly. i'm sure my nose area will be stuffed and drippy for a while longer.

now i'm going to nap for a long time. tonight we have the first of several (seven) birthing classes to go to. we are supposed to bring "two soft pillows" and i'm not sure if we should take our bed pillows (soft) or some other pillows that we have (probably not as soft).

okay bye.

last night we went to see the business of being born. i HIGHLY recommend seeing it if you are pregs, or even thinking about having a baby.
when i first found out i was pregnant i did some reading around and realized that i did not want to go to the regular baby doctor that i had gone to for woman-related things, but instead wanted to go to a midwife.
my experience at the regular doctor was pretty much non-existent...every time i went there and had an appt. with the doctor i would be rescheduled to see the nurse practitioner. not really a big deal or anything, but why not just tell me the 3 months prior when making the appt. that the ob/gyn would be to busy to see me? anyway, after a lot of reading i found out that this could be the same experience i could have if i chose to have a baby there. the doctor might be there.... or they might not, it could be someone you've never met.
another thing that freaked me out about having a baby was that every birth i had ever seen (on tv/movies because that's where everyone finds out about those kinds of things) the woman has been flat on her back, screaming, and seems to be not in control of her own body. some one else is telling her what to do and when to do it. also: lots of strange things strapped on the mother, iv's, needles....that creeps me out.
when i first told peeps i was pregs and told them i wasn't going to a doctor but instead a midwife, i got a lot of raised eyebrows and "why don't you go to a real doctor, in a real hospital?!" types of comments. most of these comments came from people at work and corey says people who work there are ignorant to begin with (true), it still seemed to me that everyone has one idea of how a birth happens. in a hospital. in a bed, flat on your back. being told when to "push". oh, and with lots and lots of drugs. another comment that i got was "are you going to have one of those weird unmedicated births?" what the hell does that even mean? weird. comments like these (pretty much all comments really) came from girls who have never had a baby and really have no idea. sure, i haven't had a baby (yet) either, so do i know more then they do? maybe, maybe not. but they seem to have their minds made up that they can't handle the pain of childbirth, or that childbirth is a terrifying or scary experience.

bah, i could go on and on forever about this subject. but i won't. go see the movie for yourself. you can even get it on netflix right now.

today i woke up with a sore froat. i called in sick to work and hopefully corey will go to the store and get me some cough drops.

school will be over REALLY soon and i can't wait to be done with my english class. jesus f-ing christ. that is the MOST annoying class ever, with the MOST annoying people. EVER. period.

this post is about makeup. if you're a boy i might bore you. i doubt very many boys read this though.

blinc kiss me

recently i switched from dior diorshow mascara to blinc kiss me mascara. the sales girl at sephora recommended it when i told her i wanted something natural looking. i had heard a few good things about it, but when i pulled out the brush it wasn't like what i was used to. the bristles were spriral-y and far apart and not like the diorshow brush which has lots of bristles close together. the formula also looked very "wet". that and the bristles combined made me think it was clump up my lashes. i bought it anyway since i knew i could return it if i didn't like it.
at the same time i also bought clinique naturally glossy mascara which i originally went there to get. i decided i would to do a comparison test with both of them.
the kiss me mascara is unlike any mascara i have ever used. it has to be used on CLEAN lashes and you can't reapply it through the day. i usually reapply mascara if i'm going to work later and it wasn't that big of a deal with diorshow since it layers well.
anyway, the first few times i used kiss me it was kind of spikey and weird. i wasn't sure if i liked it. i read reviews on makeupalley about application techniques. this mascara goes on best when you use short, quick strokes on your lashes. it's also good to use a light hand. this ensures that each lash gets coated, instead of too many lashes getting clumped together. i find that rubbing my finger over my lashes while they're still wet separates them a little more.
the best thing about this mascara is that it doesn't flake or rub off. i can sleep with it on and remove it in the shower the next morning and it doesn't give me 'raccoon eyes' if i don't use enough soap. that is the beauty of removing it, you don't need soap or eye makeup remover to take it off, just water and your fingers. it's just really simple and worth the money and that is why i like it. i have bought many drug store mascaras that are way cheaper, but have really bad results with them.
by the way, i ended up returning the clinque mascara. it was clumpier than i remember and i was more excited about the kiss me stuff anyway. i thought i might not use the clinique.

minted rose lip balm

this stuff is really nice. it's kind of like a cross between lip balm and lip gloss. it heals chapped lips and also gives a little color and shine. corey complains about the smell but whatever. i don't mind it too much. i think i almost like more then my perfumia gal lip gloss that i have. they are similar enough though, but perfumia gal is more of a gloss than a balm and it doesn't help chapped lips that much.

urban decay eyeshadow in YDK

i think this eye shadow looks darker in person and if you layer it. when i bought it i was looking for a brown color, but the lights in sephora are so weird it was hard to tell what this color really was. at first i thought it was a light brownish shimmer, but it looked different than the others i had swiped on my hand. it seemed to have more a plum color to it and i decided that it might look better on me than the brown color i was thinking of. i really like it, it's very pigmented and seems to look natural on my complexion. or something. i think i like it because it doesn't seem like something i would normally pick out ( i usually like neutral colors). it's nice and i recommend urban decay eye shadows.

everyday minerals
i started using this brand over the summer. i ordered the sample custom kit to begin with and was able to find colors that looked good on me. for some reason it seemed way easier than picking out makeup at the drugstore. the sample kit also lasted a really long time (a month and a half to 2 months maybe?) which surprised me. i think this is a good, affordable brand to try if you're thinking of trying mineral makeup out. try it!!! it really is nice!
